The Handira Wedding Blankets are hand woven from sheep’s wool and cotton by women in Morocco’s Berber regions in anticipation of that big day. If you are guessing that big day is the wedding day, then you guessed right!
In most cases, a woman’s close female relatives will begin weaving a blanket, even years before the woman even finds a man to marry.
The blanket is worn by the bride after the wedding ceremony as a cape from the venue to the new marital home.
This blanket has been hand made in the city of Tamtattouchte (Tam-Ta-Shute).
